The Assistant to the Superintendent/Director of Human Resources assists the Superintendent in the administration of all facets of district operations and assumes the duties of the Superintendent in his absence. He organizes and supervises the personnel activities of the Souderton Area School District including employment, administration, compensation, and employee relations according to school district policy, government regulations and collective bargaining agreements. He maintains close contact with all divisions of the organization to determine the personnel needs of the program. In addition to coordinating and directing the recruitment of potential staff members, he also oversees the evaluation process for all employee groups, provides assistance to supervisory personnel and maintains a system of personnel records. The Assistant to the Superintendent/Director of Human Resources counsels with employees and administrators over personnel matters and consults with employees concerning retirement procedures.

The Director of Pupil Services/Special Services oversees a wide variety of activities that support and enhance the learning environment and co-curricular programs for students K-12 in the Souderton school community. Support services include guidance and nurse services, district psychologists, Home and School Visitor who monitors student attendance, Instructional Support Teams (IST) for students struggling academically, Student Assistance Programs (SAP) for at-risk students, and English as a Secondary Language (ESL) programs for students with limited English proficiency. Many of these student supports are funded or partially funded by federal grants. The Director of Pupil Services/Special Services is responsible for insuring students learn in a physically, socially, and emotionally safe environment. These duties include monitoring the fair and appropriate enforcement of the student code of discipline, orchestrating alternative placements for disruptive students, and regularly evaluating safety protocols in all schools. An important component of creating a safe learning environment involves promoting Character Counts initiatives throughout the Indian Valley. The Director of Pupil Services/Special Services acts as a liaison between the district and the general community to form relationships that benefit both students and the community.

The Director of Elementary Education oversees the ongoing development and improvement of the K-5 instructional program as well as implement new curriculum initiatives within the district. In addition to coordinating continuous staff development for the professional employees, she also visits classrooms on a regular basis to ensure the integrity of the educational program and to remain current with the day-to-day instructional needs of the staff. The Director of Elementary Education establishes and maintains a program of ongoing evaluation of instruction and student achievement, reporting yearly to the Board of Education and the public to identify strengths, needs and strategies for improvement. Working closely with K-5 principals and the Director of Secondary Education, she is responsible for maintaining a consistent K-12 educational program which enables students to successfully meet district standards.

The Director of Secondary Education administers the educational programs of the Souderton Area School District's secondary schools (grades 6-12). Working closely with the superintendent, principals and teachers, he oversees the secondary level's curriculum and professional development programs. It is his challenge to extend Souderton's progress as a high-achieving, standards-driven school district.

The Director of Special Education administers and monitors a continuum of district-wide Special Education Services, Early Intervention through Adult Life, and Gifted Support. Working closely with the Supervisors of Elementary and Secondary Special Education, she oversees the curriculum and delivery of services in the District’s seven programs – Autistic Support, Communication Disorders Support, Learning Support, Life Skills Support, Multiple Disabilities Support, and Gifted Support - to ensure that each student receives a free and appropriate public education (FAPE) in compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and No Child Left Behind (NCLB). Through on-going professional development, best teaching practices, and open communication between our parents and staff, it is the Director of Special Education’s challenge to provide a program that will enable our students to achieve their goals to the best of their abilities.

The Director of Business Affairs is the chief financial officer of the district and therefore responsible for the administration of all financial operations of the district. This includes most of the "non-instructional" support services of the district. The supervisors for the following departments report to the Director of Business Affairs: Accounting/Payroll/Accounts Payable, Operations/Maintenance/Planning, Transportation, Food Services, Technology, and Tax Collection/Census. The district business office staff is responsible for the administration of the district's 86+ million dollar budget as well as investments, insurances, purchasing, and the annual local audit and the state audit.
