Salford Hills > The Wizard of Oz: There Is Really No Place Like Home
“I have the movie at home, but this is the real thing,” said a first grade student during the dress rehearsal of The Wizard of Oz at Salford Hills Elementary.
With a cast of 100 performers and background assistance of an almost equal number, the tale of Dorothy, her dog Toto, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion was brought to life in front of the remaining student body at the school on Wednesday afternoon.
Three additional performances will be held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening to sold out audiences. Tickets were offered first to parents and relatives of students and staff members. The school musical was funded by an educational grant from the Souderton Area Education Foundation.
Principal Maryellen Myers said, “We’re very pleased to present this school-wide musical and reinforce the concept of a caring community at Salford Hills.” The dynamic faculty and staff of Salford Hills Elementary School, whose steadfast contributions of unlimited time, energy, and inspiration, affirmed the desire to instill in our students an appreciation of the fine arts.
The creativity and motivation of teachers Meredith Ehst and Lauren Henricks made this production possible.
