Salford Hill's annual Race for Education fundraiser will be held on Friday, October 13th. This year's goal is to raise $35,000 to support activities such as field trips, assemblies, family nights, Author Day, Outdoor School, and all other Home & School sponsored activities. Five of the books that an elementary student reads in the summer can count toward their goal of reading 25 – 30 books in the next school year. In order to meet the standard for proficient readers, students need to read at least 25 books each year. In art class second graders at Salford Hills Elementary learned about how architects design buildings all around the world. Students manipulated paper to create 3-dimensional forms like: cylinders, cubes, rectangular prisms and triangular prisms. They used these forms to build their own structures and added doors and windows. They also became landscape architects and designed the paths, trees, water features, and other plantings around their buildings...

After a two year hiatus, fifth grade students enjoyed three days of Outdoor School this year. Taking day trips only, students enjoyed crafts, boating, pond study cooperative games, and making tie-dye shirts among many other activities.
