Arrival / Dismissal

• Morning Arrival:
  8:30 – 8:45 am – if your children are arriving after 8:45, you must sign your children in at the office. Students must be in their classroom when the bell rings.
   
• Afternoon Dismissal:
  Dismissal begins at 3:18 pm. Car riders are dismissed at 3:20 pm – all students being picked up must be picked up by 3:40 pm.

• Any changes to how your child is going home should be sent to school with a note signed by the parent or, in emergencies, must be called into the office prior to 3:00 pm that day. Please do not e-mail the teacher; you must contact the office. We cannot take transportation changes from a student.
   
• If a student is getting picked up early from school, pick-up is encouraged prior to 3:00 pm.

Upon arrival, proceed to the Main Office.  Please sign your children in or out.

Arrival on the Bus

• Once arriving at school, students will enter the school through the cafeteria doors.
• Once in the school, students will report to their homeroom.

Departure on the Bus

• Buses will arrive and park along the bus lane.
• The office will begin calling buses around 3:20. Students should listen carefully for their bus number.
• All students will enter into the cafeteria and exit through the doors to the platform. Once on the platform, students should look for their bus number and enter the bus.
• We hope that bus dismissal ends by 3:45 daily.

Bus Behavior 
It is critical that students use expected behaviors on the bus for the safety of passengers and drivers.  Should students engage in unexpected behaviors that jeopardize the safety of others, drivers will issue bus misconduct reports which may lead to parent-principal conferences, bus contracts, or suspension from the bus. 

We ask our parents to assist in making sure all students arrive and get home safely.  The safety of our students is paramount and requires the cooperation of all parents.  As usual, the lane at the front entrance is designated for bus riders.  No one should park in a different location (ex. on Barndt Road) during designated student pick-up and drop-off times.  Your patience during arrival and dismissal is greatly appreciated. 

Drop-Off Instructions for Car Riders: 

• Car riders arrive using the main entrance of the parking lot off Barndt Road.  Stay to the right along the curb. Follow the line as it snakes along the edge of the blacktop. We’ll attempt to dismiss a few cars at one time.  Look for orange cones at the Drop-off Zone. Once students arrive at the Drop-off Zone, students should exit on the passenger side of the car and enter the building.
• For efficient drop-off have your children ready to get out of the vehicle when you stop.
• Parents must remain in their vehicle at all times. A Salford Hills staff member on duty will assist your child if necessary.
• When exiting, please remain in line.  At the corner of the building as you enter the main parking lot, a traffic flow monitor will allow you to either proceed or stop. Follow the map for exiting instructions.

Pick-Up Instructions for Car Riders:

• As you approach the school entrance, be aware of any buses which may be entering.  Cars stay to the right; buses, the left.  Continue to the playground blacktop.  Following in line, snake around the edge until you arrive at the Pick-up Zone (Gym Entrance).
• Placards – Use the electronic pick-up form (located in the Wednesday Message at the beginning of the school year, or request from the office) to inform the office of who can retrieve your child at the end of the day.  We will send home placards with your child.   
• During pick-up, remember to place the car rider placard on your passenger side dashboard so it is visible to the staff on duty. This will speed up the pick-up process and identify you as an approved driver.
• Parents must remain in their vehicle at all times. A Salford Hills staff member on duty will assist your child if necessary.
• If it is necessary to adjust seating, pull forward after picking up your children and engage your stat flashers.  Make any necessary adjustments at that time. Carefully reenter the stream of cars moving towards the front of the building.
• When exiting, please remain in line.  At the corner of the building as you enter the main parking lot, a traffic flow monitor will allow you to either proceed or stop. Follow the map for exiting instructions.
• Remember to complete the electronic Car Rider Form to receive your car placard.
